Well I ditched this method in favor of scanning my receipts which takes less time -> http://www.russellheimlich.com/blog/neat-receipts-keeps-me-on-top-of-my-receipts/

I guess I'm even more of an auditors dream now?

Gosh, what a kool system!!! I wonder where you learned how to do that? At school? NOOOOOO......AT HOME?? YESSSSS!!!!

The next step is when I get to year-end, I put all the statements and bills and tax documents for that year in a big expandable folder labeled with the year and it goes in a file box. For a while there, until I cleaned up, I had folders going back to 1971 when we got married.

You really only need to hold 7 years worth of financial records for tax audit and other purposes.

Sounds like you need this:
http://seejanework.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=36&idproduct=453

I should talk though, my receipts are filed within envelopes by month, and then inside of a filing box. Doesn't actually hold any practical use though, they just stay there.
